Sparks of Beauty: a bridge between science, art and the future
Museum of Saving and STEP FuturAbility District
“Beauty will save the world”
Fëdor Dostoevskij
Beauty is a fundamental dimension, it transforms human experience, it is capable of generating and regenerating, inspiring and promoting new opportunities.
On the occasion of the ninth edition of My Place in the World, the Museum of Saving with the extraordinary participation of STEP FuturAbility District and the Media-partner Tuttoscuola, intends to explore the role of beauty as a regenerative force through testimonies that embrace both the human and scientific sciences.
The goal is to create a stimulating and productive dialogue between different disciplines in the tradition of interdisciplinarity of the Museum of Saving.
High school students will have the opportunity to discover how beauty can inspire, educate and create a future full of possibilities.
What will we do?
- We will explore the concept of beauty and its impact on personal and collective regeneration
- We will meet experts who have used beauty to promote innovation and opportunity
- We will foster dialogue between humanistic and scientific disciplines, showing how beauty can be a bridge between them
- We will reflect on the economic implications of beauty as a resource
With the participation of:
- Antonio Presti, Patron, Creator and President of the Antonio Presti Foundation
- Giovanni Morale, Deputy Director of Gallerie d’Italia, Milan
- Annalisa Banzi PhD, Art Historian, Consultant and Researcher at CESPEB
- Antonella Senese, Associate Professor of Physical Geography and Geomorphology and PhD in Natural and Environmental Sciences, University of Milan
An innovative element of this edition will be the possibility for classes to participate live in two interactive workshops:
- Design Your Future Workshop
A creative workshop to bring the “Manifesto of Beauty in Action” to life. Classes, in groups, will work to imagine and design initiatives that use beauty to create opportunities in their community. At the end, the works will be shared and commented on during the live broadcast.
- The Beauty of Mathematics
A creative workshop to discover the beauty of geometry thanks to dynamic and interactive tools. Students, using apps, will try their hand at creating a 3D object born from the combination of geometric solids. An experience to introduce the youngest to coding and discover the beauty of mathematics.
