The title of “Best Italian High School in Financial Education – SAVE AMBASSADOR MdR School Year 2025–2026” has been passed on to ITET G. Garibaldi in Marsala (Trapani), led by Professor Loredana Scaglione, which, in addition to the title, receives the Museum trophy and a voucher for free admission with a guided tour of the Museum of Saving for all its classes.
Turin, 19 May 2026 – The fifth edition of the “Become a SAVE Ambassador MdR” initiative for sustainability 2026, dedicated to students from Italian schools, concluded online. The project is an action-research initiative focusing on saving and sustainability.
With the valuable support of Ambassador teachers and while respecting the needs of each individual school, the Museum of Saving tutors involved students in experiential learning pathways covering the circular economy, the fundamentals of eco-design, sustainable businesses, and the factors that promote social inclusion.
A requirement for schools wishing to participate was the involvement of a minimum of four or six classes, in order to encourage knowledge sharing, cooperative learning, and discussion in a fun and interactive way.
This year’s edition involved 8 Italian regions (Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Calabria, and Sicily), 11 finalist schools (across all school levels), 62 classes, and more than 1,200 students, for a total of up to 20 hours that could be certified as School-to-Work Training (FSL) for every student who completed the program, plus 10 hours for Civic Education/Career Guidance.
Students immersed themselves in videos, gaming apps, educational quizzes, and workshops (tailored to each school level) to develop new skills while exploring the scarcity of natural and economic resources, businesses’ commitment to the ecological transition, and the different forms of sustainable mobility. Finally, they reflected on the importance of combating waste for both individual and collective well-being.
Here are some examples of the students’ work:
- Primary school projects:
Project Work: The means of transport of the future – IC E. SACCONI, Tarquinia (Viterbo)
- Middle school projects:
Project Work: Sustainable Businesses – IC Padre Gemelli di Pola (Turin)
Project Work: My ideal city – IC Pertini, Martinsicuro (Teramo)
- High school project:
THE AWARDS
Each school competed based on a score calculated as follows: the number of classes that completed the program, plus the tutors’ average assessment of the school’s collaboration and the quality and relevance of the students’ project work, with additional points awarded according to the Kahoot podium ranking. “Legacy” points were activated for schools finishing in the top five and added to the score achieved in the final quiz. The teacher with the highest total score enabled his or her school to win, in addition to the Museum trophy and official title, free admission with a guided tour of the Museum of Saving for their students.
Following the quiz competition on the key themes of the circular economy and sustainability, the award was presented to ITET G. Garibaldi in Marsala (Trapani), led by Professor Loredana Scaglione, with a total score of 18 points. In addition to the title of “Best Italian High School in Financial Education – SAVE AMBASSADOR MdR School Year 2025–2026,” the school received the Museum trophy and a voucher for free admission with a guided tour of the Museum of Saving for its students, valid for two years.
Testimonial from Professor Loredana Scaglione – ITET G. Garibaldi, Marsala (Trapani)
“I would like to thank the Museum of Saving for the opportunity offered through the S.A.V.E. Ambassador project. Thanks to your online lessons, three of our classes, each with different skills, were able to apply the principles of the circular economy to the world of fashion. By approaching the program as a real-life project, students combined their knowledge of chemistry, textile technology, design, and economics, transforming the educational experience into a simplified business plan for a potential sustainable company. Learning how to calculate costs, revenues, and business cycles projected them into their future profession, helping them understand that local resources are the foundation for building tomorrow. Thank you once again for this valuable learning experience!”
