Learning to prevent over-indebtedness

Over-indebtedness represents a hidden plague, which unfortunately is affecting a growing number of families and individuals even in our region. The main cause is always an economic crisis, but it worsens with gambling and loan sharking.
The Museum of Saving, together with UniTo, Fondazione La Scialuppa, Fondazione San Matteo, and Fondazione Don Mario Operti, and with the participation of the Regional Observatory on Usury, Extortion, and Over-indebtedness phenomena, invites Third Sector Associations and Social Policy Councillors to a moment of discussion to collaborate in building a training path for conscious debt management.
The focus of the meeting “Easy debt, hard life – The trap no one tells you about” is to jointly define the guidelines for the various actors involved to design a prevention kit for over-indebtedness, consisting of a financial education module for people at risk and their families, and some training/information meetings aimed at association operators.
The activities will be delivered starting from autumn, allowing both the associations and their users to understand how to avoid falling into the debt spiral and to identify subjects and concrete remedies to turn to in order to try to overcome the problem.
Over-indebtedness is an increasingly widespread problem: only by joining forces can we act effectively, promoting a solid prevention activity that prepares people to protect themselves from those who take advantage of fragilities in moments of difficulty.
