The Museum of Saving will participate as a sponsor in the 31st International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP 2026), the leading international conference dedicated to applied psychology, taking place in Florence from July 21 to 25, 2026. The event brings together scholars, researchers, and professionals from around the world to discuss the latest scientific evidence and applications of psychology to major issues facing contemporary society.
The two sessions hosted by the Museum of Saving will focus on the relationship between psychology and financial behavior and will feature Giovanna Paladino, Director and Curator of the Museum of Saving.
The first session will take place on Thursday, July 23, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., with the workshop “Relax, It’s Just Money. Financial anxiety: causes and strategies to keep it under control.” The session will address financial anxiety, an increasingly widespread phenomenon that can affect people’s well-being and the quality of their financial decisions. With contributions from experts, the workshop will explore the main causes of money-related anxiety and present strategies, tools, and a new app to help participants recognize and manage it more consciously. The second session is scheduled for Friday, July 24, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., and will feature a presentation of the paper “Bright Outlook, Better Budgets: How Optimism Shapes Financial Planning Behavior,” focusing on the role of optimism in financial planning. The session will explore how positive expectations influence financial behavior, highlighting the relationship between psychological factors, planning skills, and long-term financial decisions.
